Have you ever witnessed a celebrity, greeting guests in a cafe in the attire of a waitress?

I think, you haven’t.

But let me tell you, that the Spartacus: Blood and Sand actress, Lucy Lawless caught the attention of one and all, by turning into a waitress, a few weeks ago.

Just as everything has a reason, Lucy’s move wasn’t an ordinary one either.

In fact, she put on the apron of a waitress, to raise funds for children at Starship Hospital.

Auckland-based Cafe Melba, where the star showed up, took an initiative to donate 50 cents to the children’s fund, for every cup of coffee sold.

The initiative was undertaken to mark Cafe Melba’s 15th inauguration day celebration, and by bringing in Lucy, the café struck gold!

Undoubtedly, it’s a noble move, but more than anything, I would like to applaud Lawless, because she made it to the fund raising event, in spite of her hectic schedule.

I know, all of you adore her, and must be feeling an urge to catch a glimpse of the siren.

No issues, get a download of her acts as Lucretia in Spartacus: Blood and Sand to satiate your wish.

Lawless surpassed the days of Xena: Warrior Princess, when she first played the powerful character of Lucretia. And the new age show lovers know her, because of her compelling acts in the gladiator-based epic tale.

She may have played a strong character in Xena: Warrior Princess, but that doesn’t mean the lady herself is brutal. In fact, in her recently ended show, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, we could witness the softer side of the actress.

And with an act of benevolence, she has once again proved that she is much above the characters she has played.

I would like to see more such philanthropic acts from her, and given the fact that she is already into charity, children in distress might find her beside them, more often than not!

What do you think?

He is the man, who brought to us some thrilling doses of historic entertainment. And it was because of Steven DeKnight that we got to watch some power-packed performances from Andy Whitfield.

Anyway, the buzz that’s making rounds of the entertainment world these days is that the creator of the smash hit show is all set to increase his bank balance in the next few years.

And it’s all going to happen because of the two-year deal that he has signed with Starz network.

I feel the network has hit a jackpot by roping in this treasure of talent. And there is every reason on the part of the network to get impressed with his work.

His creation (read Spartacus: Blood and Sand) had almost resurrected the forgotten times of Roman brutalities on screen. And with the new season, Spartacus: Vengeance (also created by Steven) making its way by next year, screens are sure to be set ablaze.

Coming to his new deal with the network, I think he would not just stop with it, but would go on to deliver more resourceful projects to Starz.

This deal, in a way, means that we would get to watch the new work of Spartacus: Blood and Sand creator for the next two years. And with that news becoming viral online, I don’t think any of his admirers would afford to lose a chance of enjoying his work.

Plus, it’s not that DeKnight has been associated with network from Spartacus days, as his work as the writer for shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, and Smallville make him an old friend.

…And the love for Andy Whitfield shows with the Starz network bringing out marathon episodes of some of his memorable acts shortly.

He battered some of the most herculean opponents inside the arena, but he proved to be a mortal to surrender himself to cancer.

Of course, I am trying to mingle the on-screen character and the man, who actually portrayed it.

No wonder, he was a gladiator in real life, as he was all keen to reprise his role for the second season of the smash hit series, until he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

In one the statements from the network, it was revealed that Andy was not just any actor, but the one, who was chosen after a real soul search. Well, of course, it was certainly important that someone with the looks resembling a Roman warrior should be roped in.

I, however, feel that he was many leagues ahead from the rest of the actors. And I still wonder whether the show has found a good replacement for the hunk (no offence to Liam McIntyre).

Needless to mention that die-hard devotees would still look for a download of Spartacus: Blood And Sand, even long after the honorary marathon had finished airing.

I guess it was the same love that kept him alive until he breathed his last on September 10.

It’s not just his friends, who hailed him as someone noble and with a brave heart; all his fans around the globe share a similar sentiment.

I am sure the bond of affection between the actor and fans would live eternally, long after the show has ended.

Before signing off, I would like to pray to Holy Trinity for his peaceful redemption!

Professional commitments could land an actress with plethora of roles and, that too, over a brief period.

Sometimes, the advent of a new project not just gives a complete makeover to the appearance of stars, but also opens up a new window of opportunities for them.

I don’t know whether Erin Cummings’ cameo in spy series, Pan Am, would do any good to her career or not, but I can assure that most of her die-hard devotees would be looking forward to her new avatar.

While Andy Whitefield was on board the action packed historical show Spartacus Blood and Sand, Erin Cumming was seen playing the role of Andy’s estranged wife.

And it’s probably her destiny that she has got the chance to play a wife once again, of course in a different show. We would no longer see her struggling to find respectability in the society; her husband would no more grapple with all the unforeseen incidents to meet ends.

In fact, it would be a complete turn-around because the sizzling siren would be seen more as a modern day woman, donning the shoes of an airline executive’s wife; rather than a Roman age belle.

Being a guest role, the character might not attract much media attention, but one thing is for sure, it would add a new feather to her cap. So, watch out for her new role!

Do you think the Spartacus Blood and Sand actress would be able to nail it in Pan Am?

As a fan of her, I would give a nod to that, and hope that most of her devotees, who still go online to revisit her previous acts, would agree with me on that.

It’s a win-win situation that Starz got hold of Liam McIntyre to replace Andy Whitefield. But, bearing a strong resemblance with the original Spartacus won’t do much of good, as far as stealing the attention of the fans is concerned.

The star seems aware of that and from one of his recent interviews, it sounds like Liam hasn’t left any stone unturned to look like real Spartacus!

You know what, I really liked when he admitted that he knew well, how much fans expect Spartacus to deliver. Liam asserted on the fact that he was once on the other side of the barricade, and could realize how much of action one would love to witness having Gladiators locked up in the arena.

Interestingly, when he first auditioned for the show, Steven S. DeKnight, the creator wasn’t very impressed with Liam’s physical appearance.

And the fact that he had already lost tremendous weight because of his previous project, the show runner had many qualms.

In fact, DeKnight declined to take him up for the role of the Spartacus because of his extremely skinny physique. However, the creator couldn’t resist his temptation of banking upon the hunk, because he had seen sparks in him that reminded him of Andy.

I guess, you have already figured out the kind of qualities that the creator had seen in him. That’s right, apart from sharing a striking resemblance with Andy, Liam does have idiosyncrasies that remind of the titular character.

Download the new episodes of ground-breaking series Spartacus Blood and Sand as it comes along with a ‘Vengeance’.

During the tête-à-tête, the actor also mentioned about the backbreaking stunts that he endured during the shooting.

Well, it reminds me of one of the interviews of John Hannah wherein he confessed about the hellish pain inflicted on him after breaking one of his ribs.

But, let’s hope that Liam McIntyre need not experience such a fatal blow, as he is a part of the show that has legacy of making its star to get laid back on the bed of anguish!

Just because he resembles Andy Whitfield, It doesn’t mean the network has unearthed a gem; the lad is a proven performer.

But the crux of the matter is: how is he going to fare in the new season of the blood-spilling tales from the Roman Era?

During one of his recent interviews, Liam defined the job of playing Spartacus as something of immense responsibility. And, surely, there are testing times ahead for him when new season airs and fans get a chance to draw comparison between his and Andy’s act.

The recent Comic Con, where Liam had appeared, witnessed actress Lucy Lawless’ thoughts on Spartacus: Vengeance.

She went on to claim that the widow of Batiatus would vow to avenge the death of her husband but, more than that, she would try to get the status back that Spartacus has snatched away.

Lucy also confirmed that some steamy scenes are making their way into the forthcoming season. And I am sure that, at the receiving end, there would be her character Lucretia.

She might use sex as a weapon; and the new season would see a new game with the battered Roman belle at the helm!

Undoubtedly with the release of yet another swords-and-sandals season, all the action lovers would get a chance to download episodes of Spartacus Blood and Sand, and with Liam McIntyre cutting on the grief of losing Andy, most of us would love to use the opportunity over and over again.

Surely a challenge lays ahead for Liam McIntyre, and I feel it would do well if he avoids trying too hard to look like the Spartacus of old!

Even though he shares some similarities with the formerly beloved Andy, there are many aspects that would differentiate him from the guy who brought alive the Roman hero on screens.

And it would be really riveting to see how Liam McIntyre will match up to the legacy left behind by Andy Whitfield.

And for that reason, the latest image featuring Lucy Lawless, as the troubled widow of the murdered owner of the gladiators; a vengeful woman!

With untidy hair and dirt all over her body, Lucy’s new look might not appeal to you much, but it’s being touted by many, to be an apt appearance for a woman, who couldn’t see the face of her child and had her husband ripped open, right in front of her eyes.

In the finale of the previous season, we got to see Lucretia nearly stabbed to death. But in one of her previous interviews, the actress herself revealed that the character would re-surface in Spartacus: Vengeance, the new season.

Now I know why they say that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Since an image is worth a thousand words, Lucretia with her dead husband’s robes on, does signify the impending danger that lurks over Spartacus and the other gladiators.

If on the one hand, Spartacus is hell bent on liberating Rome from the tyranny and oppression, Lucretia’s fire of revenge, on the other, might apprehend his mission.

Remember, she is no ordinary woman, but the wife of a man, who cudgeled mighty gladiators and had them under his control, like tamed lions.

That means Spartacus will be up for a duel and it will be interesting to watch whether Lucretia gives him a tough fight or the other Roman legions bring him down.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand has undoubtedly seen inexplicable blood spill in the last season, and with revenge being at the helm of affairs for the next one, death and destruction are certain to increase by many folds.

So do remember to catch up with Spartacus: Vengeance, as soon as it premieres next year. The fact that actor Andy Whitfield has already been replaced by Liam McIntyre for the titular character, it makes more sense to follow the new story arcs even more religiously, even if you have to opt for the online way.

And this has been claimed by none other than the show creator, Steven S. DeKnight!

Yes action lovers, the upcoming season of the epic show would dish out some never-seen- before kind of fire of revenge, with Spartacus spearheading the slave rebellion.

The upcoming season is smartly titled Spartacus: Vengeance as it would express the deep-rooted resentment of the confined slaves.

So, there’s going to be blood, sand, and acts of ferocious courage looking to dismantle the mighty Roman emperor!

According to Steven, the cataclysmic events would kick off exactly from where Spartacus: Blood and Sand ended.

It has become evident that the biggest challenge that would pop up this time around is the acceptance of actor Liam McIntyre as the replacement of Andy Whitefield.

Andy was someone who infused life in the titular character, and perhaps because of that, fans used to opt for download of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, even after enjoying it on air.

His unfortunate pull- out from the show was unacceptable, but destiny had some more pains in store for him as he is still battling cancer.

I am sure that when new season rolls out, fans would miss him desperately, as he was the one who nurtured the revolt. And now Liam McIntyre would lead it.

Well, let’s not get so circumspect about it, and hope for good performance from the new Spartacus! After all, we are more concerned about the victory against the brutal oppression of chained men.

If you have been following the show for the last couple of months, then you might take the new season as the third one. But that’s not the case.

What happened in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena was a prequel to season one. As a result Spartacus: Vengeance is officially the second installment of the show, and its incidents are connected with the premiere batch, and not with the prequel.

When the character of Lucy Lawless, Lucretia, was killed in the season one finale of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, the reaction among fans of the leading lady was an epic one.

Even though we all knew that Lucy is pivotal to the show, yet it was only after the possibility of her getting ousted emerged, that we realized that she is, and will always be the essence of the Spartacus franchise, without whom the show is unimaginable.

The starlet’s return on season 2 was a celebrated moment for fans of the series, and marks the invincibility of her character.

However, the challenges that this role has posed for the actress have been numerous.

Her biggest battle, has of course, been against the hardcore nudity and rampant prevalence of sex scenes on the show.

Even though many would agree that the actress is among the prettiest women we get to watch on television, yet what few know is that she has always been a tad bit conscious about her weight.

Lucy battled with the eating disorder, Bulimia, as a teenager, but eventually got over it and began to accept her body image. But she still finds it offensive when her co-stars teasingly call her ‘zaftig’, which stands for ‘great, big, Amazonian’.

The actress reveals that even though she knows that it’s meant as a compliment, she feels they’re teasing her for being overweight.

While the actress has learnt to come to terms with nudity, she’s still not comfortable filming sex scenes, because she finds it difficult to relate with her co-stars in that way.

Interestingly, she doesn’t allow her 22-year-old daughter, Daisy Lawless, who works as an editor on the show, to watch the scenes either, and tells her to turn her back when they’re enacting them!

On being asked about how it feels to be the wife of the show’s producer, Robert Tapert, Lucy says that it she still doesn’t entitle her to know about the plot in advance.

She went on to gush about him being a brilliant producer.

Sweet!

To watch the duo spur their magic on the screen, you can catch up with Spartacus: Blood and Sand online.

Just chill, guys! A lethal explosion is not going to rock the Spartans!

Come on, you know that they didn’t have the technique back then. This dynamism emanates from an entirely different cause.

‘Dynamite’! That’s how actress Viva Bianca described the upcoming season of the historical drama!

Grab a download of the show and witness Ilithyia, the vixen who would go to any length to get Spartacus killed.

Now, you may abhor the character, but not the actress who portrayed it in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. I am, of course, referring to the gorgeous Aussie, Viva Bianca!

She recently exclaimed in an interview that the audience can expect a lot from the next season of the show.

This couldn’t have come at a better time than this as the show was mired by the untimely exit of Andy Whitfield, who played the part of the central protagonist in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. While viewers are already apprehending the entry of Liam McIntyre in the protagonist’s role, Viva’s statements seem nothing less than a reprieve.

She further exclaimed that Liam has entered into the shoes of Andy pretty well.

And then came the question which could have sent her fuming, but she replied to it with an unusual panache.

I know, you might have guessed it already! It was about the nudity and physical intimacy that comes popping up every now and then in the show.

Well, it’s about time that people were okay with this sort of exposure, is what the lady has to say in her justification.

Happy viewing!
